Howell Raines was editor in chief of The New York Times in the years Jerelle Kraus was in charge of art direction Items section of opinion (the famous Op-Ed ). In a book recently emerged Kraus confesses that Raines became his worst nightmare for the child (single issue) for bowls illustrations that accompany the notes. We chose two cases because they are a real Rorschach test to see what was on Raines's head when considering the drawings.

The following electric bulb (to illustrate an article on the copyright on the Internet) was censored by Raines because he saw it ... A nipple!
